Hi!
How did you prep the burp cloth so that you could crochet around it? Also for the burp cloth could I use a regular sewing machine to finish the burp cloth edge (like a zigzag stitch etc.) before I crochet it?

I don't punch the holes on the burp cloths myself. I actually send them to a lady and she has a hemstitching machine. She does great work and I would highly recommend her! Her website address is: http://www.heirloomhemstitching.com/index.html
I don't finish the burp cloth by sewing the edges. The hemstitching machine does a nice job of holding all the holes open and then I trim the edge to about 3/8 of an inch and then crochet around.
